Default 1.8T auto??

Hi folks

In James Taylor's excellent book it's stated that the 1.8 turbo engine was only ever mated to a manual 'box, but I've seen more than one for-sale advert for an auto version of the 75 with this engine
Can anyone enlighten me please?

Its maybe the ZT 180 Auto you have seen for sale? These 180's are V6 and all autos.

I seem to recall the Rover 75 was available with the 1.8 turbo engine with automatic gearbox, but not the MG, I'm sure someone more knowledgeable will be along soon to put me right....

Default 1.8i

Many thanks for the replies folks, this version is now also under consideration as I feel the 1.8 NA (with it's 120PS) may be underpowered in auto form.

It is underpowered (I have one) but it’s a lovely smooth lazy drive.
