Hi-Line automatically gets louder at 80 mph
Is it normal for the volume to increase a little when travelling at 80mph? (Actually, I think it's 82mph.)
Is there a setting for this somewhere that I've missed? TIA. Jim |

Thanks. However, I'm a wally. I found out last week that my system a Hi-Line, not a Symphony.
Apologies. If only I could edit the title. So, is this normal for a HiLine, and if so is there a way to change it? |

Yes it is normal - it's called speed related volume or some such. Keith or someone with sat nav should be along soon to tell you how to change it

You need to adjust the Gal setting go into Radio mode push and hold the Traffic) TP button then play with the settings
Can't say any more than that at the moment as I can't remember what to do next Will have a look in ........... no I won't just remembered I have a different radio Try this High line/navigation The service mode for the harmony head unit is accessed by switching ‘on’ the radio unit using the right hand rotary control and within eight seconds press and hold the left hand side of the 'TRAFFIC' button for a minimum of eight seconds. Using the radio seek up/tape forward button (>) select the required option from the list in the display. From there you can change the settings in the list below. 1. Displays the serial number. 2. Displays the software version. 3. Displays the AVC setting in a range from GAL 1 to GAL 6. (default value is GAL 1 the remaining numbers, GAL 2 to GAL 6, are used to provide differing levels of output). Selecting the levels is done by pressing the station preset buttons one to six. 4. Displays the frequency, programme service (PS) name, field strength, field quality and programme information (PI), it is possible to check out each of the preset stations by using the appropriate preset buttons and the frequency selector button (AM/FM button). The field strength is shown as F—, where F00 is the weakest signal and F15 being the strongest signal. The quality is shown as Q—, with Q00 being the lowest quality and Q15 being the best quality. 5. Displays the seek level as either a one or a two. This is adjusted using preset buttons one and two. 6. Displays the TP volume. This can be adjusted using preset buttons one and two to adjust the TP volume between –9 and +9. To exit service mode switch the unit 'off'. |

Thanks for this info.... however, on my Hi-Line, it only goes into service mode when I press and hold the *right* side of the TP button, not the left side.
Also, there is an additional item between the frequency etc and seek options, called DSP, which displays a 0 level and nothing seems to change that. Just wondering what this DSP option might be, and whether it also has a bearing on why my version of Hi-Line requires the right and not left side to be pressed and held. |

Ah well there you go then, there is obviously only one side you can hold the TP button on and I guess those instruction were written for a parralel universe or a LHD car!
DSP is Digital Signal Processor a high end option in Nav equipped BMWs. we don't have such luxuries and I don't even know what it would do if we did have one unless it is designed to clean up all the noise that about 200' (8 or more wires doing two laps each of the car) of speaker cable introduces |

Wish I did live in a parallel universe.... must be an improvement on this one... !
Thanks for the DSP bit.... was just curious. Anybody know what the actual GAL levels mean in terms of AVC adjusment relating to speed? |
