OEM Towbar for Saloon **ACQUIRED** - Page 3

Can't believe how easy it was really should have looked at it sooner.
Although I was expecting the key so didn't have any reason to I suppose.

Anyway here's how I did it.

Pics of the lock & catch.

What I did was remove the Allen key bolt.

Once removed the catch came off.

This allowed me into the back of the lock a little hammer onto a punch onto the small round pin released the lock.

All put back together & works fine.

If you remove it after every use then there's no need for a lock.

Hopefully of some use to other members who find themselves in a similar situation.

Dont give up just yet, I am checking one out next week, which I have been told is OEM, but he wants £60 for it all, and he say's it even has the bag for the ball.

Sounds good, good luck, I have emailed 30 people on eBay who are breaking rover 75's and no luck! Have contacted breakers and left wanted adds on here and .org and nothing, can't have been a popular option when new!

Well, this one is for a saloon, and I have a tourer, but I was going to get it because I know how rare the balls are, I have seen umpteen cars with bars, but not one with the ball. So if it's complete and you want it, you can have it.
Just checked on ebay and there is one on there, 261189430952.

Don't give up, Tim. It took a while a source mine, but I got one in the end. You will find one; keep looking!

Hi Rod, many thanks for info and yes mine is a saloon, I would definitely want yours, how much did you want for it? the one on Ebay looks good but does not say if it is for a 75, may look similar but knowing BMC probably had a slight difference, don't really want to take the gamble.

I would be interested in just the ball arm from you as the car is already fitted with all the oem bracketry and wiring.

If you do get & decide to split I may be interested in the actual frame work as the one I have is for a tourer which needs a little mod to fit to a saloon.
If your keeping it complete or as a spare no worries I can mod it to fit.
