Got my renewal from Churchills last week for £253. Checked on moneysupermarket and had a quote of £151 from SAGA. To include the wife and protect NCD total was £191 with interest free over 12 months

Interesting quote there madone.
For me a SAGA quote was approaching £900.00 and was one of the most expensive, go figure. |

In my opinion, car insurance is a racket. Try Confused.com and see how the quotes vary. It's quite impossible to justify the quotation range. They're little more than invention.
Insurance premiums continue to rise because of associated racketeering by many repair shops and garages alike. Taking a car for repair under insurance is equivalent to giving some of these outfits a licence to print money. Not all companies are at fault, but enough are to taint the rest. I have first hand experience of such racketeering by a main line repairer, specified by my insurance company. This involved a Rover 400. The relatively minor work I had done (a rear door skin) took three weeks and was itemised to the last detail. The job list was surprisingly long. It included tasks that were not required to affect the repair and others which I could prove were blatent lies. Outwardly, the repair looked perfect, but there were many worrying aspects to it. The innards of the door were left a complete mess. Nothing was refitted properly, just pushed into the cavity in a lump. Paint overspray on the rear bumper confirmed they hadn't removed it as itemised and costed. Several out of sight bits were missing. The engine compartment had been messed with and a wheel nut tool had been left under the bonnet. Throughout this three weeks, I was given a brand new Mondeo as courtesy car. This was costing somebody at least £120 per week. Of course I complained to my insurance company about the quality and cost of the work. I suggested that insurance premiums generally might be lower if repairers like this one were more honest. The insurance company were not in the least concerned that they had paid through the nose. They're only concern was that I was satisfied a good repair had been made. After all, they wanted me back next year and it's our money they're shelling out to these people. TC |

Age 43 + wife and work usage
Car year is 02 Fully Comp, Legal assistance, Market value not exceeding 25k, (i wish) not more than 10,000 miles a year (i wish) NCB is max Can't remember how much per annum but they debit £28.47 every month. that's £341.64 a year. They'll add about 20+% APR. So it must be something like £300 but that's just an estimate. It's renewed in June. But then It's parked in the street. So thet would probably increase the premium
