Try DMGRS
I had Clutch failures on two of my cars within months and in each case replaced by items from DMGRS - see https://www.dmgrs.co.uk/collections/...1067-uub100193 . Many thousand run since without problems. If I were you CAT I would spesk to JULES and consider him doing the work using the Clutch from DMGRS ( I used the Metal Slave) .

Plus 1 for the kit off matt
My clutch completely failed back in may 2015 and following advice from peeps on here got the full kit off matt , plate, slave and master. Not cheap but hasn't needed touching in 4 years and nearly 50000 miles so works out cheaper if you only need to do it once. Did it myself on a gravel drive , not an easy job but doable if you are mechanically inclined. Stan (I can guess what will happen now) PS...I believe matt fits the clutches as well and is in southport

The bearing in the metal slave failed on mine after less than 10,000 miles Brian reckons some of them come out of the facory with no grease

From the replies it still seems to me that it's pot luck whether it will last or not. I don't know if I'm remembering correctly but I thought that Jules had stopped doing clutches because of the problem of shoddy parts, maybe I dreamt that though and I couldn't find the link to the clutch service on DMGRS website, will have another look.

This is a major issue. I expect to have to replace parts as they wear out, but no one can sustain repairs due to poor quality replacement parts. This will see the majority of remaining 75's and ZT's scrapped off very quickly.

I cannot help but feel that there is excessive doom and gloom preceded by over-optimistic claims and general hype.
The key factor in my opinion is who manufactures the components and not who sells them. DMGRS does not manufacture any of the clutch components - he merely sells what is available from his suppliers. If we consider the parts of a clutch kit that never really give any problems, these are the the clutch and friction plates. This then leaves the CSC and the M/C. Both these items are available from reputable suppliers that have been manufacturing them for many years and have a track record of delivering reliability (notwithstanding that there will always be a small percentage of early-life failures with any component). We've had a lot of hype about various components from new manufacturers over the years that I have been a member and none of them have lived up to the hype or the performance of the original part. I only ever entertain fitting an Luk clutch kit to my Rovers. Similarly, Delphi or Meyle drop links. None of my cars have ever suffered from premature failure of any component. My advice to owners would be that there are only two clutch component manufacturers worthy of consideration these days because of their track record - AP and Luk with the original plastic parts. |
