Default Inconsiderate driver

Just cost me a new front tyre!

Just outside Stevenage there's a narrow bit of road with a "you have priority over oncoming vehicles" sign, so I naively thought that would be the case. Anyway an Escort type van coming the other way had other ideas, and belted through, so I had no option but to swerve to the left, doing about 30. And clouted the curb, didn't I.

Fortunately the car seems to be steering OK, in that it still pulls to the left a little (!), but there was a bulge in the tyre sidewall, and not a mark on the rim, so I think the tyre took all the impact. Drove home at about 45 mph (preferable to making 2 wheel changes due to spacesaver having to be on the rear), and sure enough tyre's a write-off.

Not a happy bunny!

Bad luck about the tyre...

Small vans seem to be the new 'kings of the road (I don't mean kings of the three type) and have replaced the Astra vans that could do a ton with a ladder on the roof and sacks of sand in the boot...now it seems to be the newer little Peugeots and Vauxhall vans that have the sensors on the front bumper that give tone when they're six inches behind you at 80...

Fortunately, around our way the unmarked bill seem to pull vans more than cars, very pleasurable...
