A gentleman with a red flag walking in front of every motor vehicle to warn pedestrians.

Bring back the death penalty for those that drive at 50MPH in the centre lane of a motorway when the nearside lane is empty.

Cheers Ian

60mph speed limiter on vans, stop them driving on motorways like they're playing 5 a side, and banned from the outside lane.
Anyone using a mobile in the front of a vehicle to be birched..bring back the birch for this purpose.
HGV's to use inside lane only, tough, but just enough of blocking lanes while crawling past each other.
Motorcycles to use bus lanes, should reduce the amount of times some moron closes the gap to stop us filtering.
LEDs on service vehicles and traffic lights replaced with normal bulbs, they are too intrusive at night.
Ladies and Gentlemen that have had their vehicles remapped to backfire on overrun made to stand infront of a 10000w PA with Albert Ayler having it large on his sax.
People that speed up when being overtaken so you can't pull back in without increasing speed, should be escorted to the next services and all the fuel removed from their vehicle.

I would raise the age for getting your provisional to 18 and make it mandatory for you to have completed at least 140 hours on the road before you're allowed to take your test.

I'd also introduce the r plate system used in northern ireland to the whole of the uk limiting new drivers to a maximum speed of 45 for the first twelve months they drive. I'd remove the part of the n.irish law that makes the 45 mph limit apply to motorways, for motorways I'd raise it so new drivers can drive at up to 60 mph.

Cheaper tax for those who maintain their vehicles to a high standard (no or few advisories on MOT, or excellent emission results) Standard tax for those who do just enough to make it legal, and higher taxes for the "if it ain't broke don't fix it" people (high rate of failures, lots of excess smoke that the owner is not willing to fix)

Upgrade the standard cat on diesels. so that it warms up quicker and reduces NoX emissions.

Arrest yobbos who rip up the streets doing wheelies in their stupidly loud bikes, and force them to watch as it gets crushed.

Raise the motorway speed limit to 90 on toll roads, and 80 on all others during quiet hours

I’ve got a few, some of which have already been mentioned.

Re sit driving test every five years.
Newly passed drivers carry a restricted licence for 1 year
No parking on the wrong side of the road.
Left turn on red light allowed if road is clear and after a complete stop
Nearside ( undertaking) allowed
Full DRL’s front and rear on all cars mandatory
MOT test taken away from garages and run by totally independent company.
More powers given to Police to impound cars when traffic laws are broken.
Re introduce traffic Police and use the cameras for towns and villages.
Improved system of road tax (VED)

There’s my starter for 10
