Well that's just as well because the drive is where my friends MG lives since the dealer they bought it off stopped being an MG dealer four weeks after they took delivery.

Thing is broken, getting it fixed is proving next to impossible.

If people really buy cars based on looks rather than functionality then they should remember my nanny's advice to my brother

Ahh - so that's where I went wrong - I have always been the cook

Of course people buy cars on looks, the Duster could be twice as good but it wouldn't look as good on the drive as a ZS, even one you can't drive Simply because everyone knows Dacia's are budget cars while they don't know what a ZS is.

I wouldn't buy either, I have a fair idea you will struggle to get ZS parts so I'll bet a lot get written off because of it and the Duster is just something I wouldn't be proud of owning.

I always thought that manufacturers were obliged to supply parts of vehicles for up to 10 years after a model ended. If they cant provide them when its newish what chance have you got? The need for front end bits is hardly suprising. There not trying are they?

The parts arrived today 6 and a half weeks after being ordered for the ZS. Quite a wait but could have been worse.

After owning a ZS for a few weeks I’ve got to say build quality is good. We were looking at a Hyundai Tucson which is the better car but not 12k better. The ZS in my opinion isn’t a ‘cheap’ car but a well put together car without technology such as adaptive cruise control, lane assist, radar braking, smart key etc which keeps the cost down. SAIC builds Audi’s and VW’s in its factory in China and a few Audi, VW parts cross over. I worked on an Audi A1 today which had pretty much the same air vents as the ZS.

Read a car review by Zog Zeigler. Lots of rubbish stated as fact regarding the TR7 and other cars.
BBC is currently spouting untruths on a range of subjects so you really can’t believe much of what you read, see or hear and to think many young people think that if they read it on the internet it must be true.
Only way to find out if any car is any good is go drive it for yourself.
Does anyone really believe a “review” posted on line is genuine? My wife and I booked a 2 night break on line in an award winning hotel. We tried hard to think of exactly what award it was and which decade it was awarded? We left after just one night as it was shocking.
Having only looked at and sat in the MG3, MG6 and ZS I’m impressed enough to buy one. My only concern is the parts and servicing. MG just don’t seem to have put enough effort into creating a national network that is able to look after its customers.

Earlier on this year we decided that an SUV type vehicle would be a good buy for us. We live out in the sticks and we have miles of rather poor single track roads to deal with daily so, thought the higher driving position and better ground clearance would suit our needs.
We looked at the GS and the Duster, amongst others, and came to the conclusion that none of them were very desirable to us. They just felt cheap and badly made and, we go the feeling that there was no longevity in either of them

So, we decided to buy a ‘proper’ vehicle for the job.......a 2009 Freelander 2 with only 100,000 miles on it! Absolutely love it, well made, tough, and an absolute pleasure to drive.
Oh yes, saved ourselves a few thousand pound too

Nice to have the Land Rover marque back on our drive

I am not a fan of the new MGs, but hey, I dont have to buy one, but reading about all the parts availability etc. I think of Lamborghinis of years gone by, they used to have parts availability problems too (dont know what they are like now), so think of MGs as legendary cars with supercar problems, just like a Lamborghini

We have a VW Scirroco that's been side swiped in the bodyshop and the air bags have all gone off including the one in the drivers seat bolster. VW can't supply a seat cover and it's been standing there for 3 month! If that makes it better.

To be fair about things shouldn't this thread now be closed as it has apparently become about Brexit?
