Lonely days are long
Twilight sings a song
All the happiness that used to be

Soon my eyes will close
Soon I'll find repose
And in dreams, you're always near to me

I'll see you in my dreams
And then I'll hold you in my dreams

Flew my union flag from 8am this morning, lowered to half mast at 10.30am the raised to top again at 11.02 am as per flag protocol today.
(apologies for messy garden, having a new shed built at the bottom of the garden)

I am impressed with what this 16 year old lad has done, in the village down the road.

One has to admire his labour, as well as his imagination. He deserves to do well in life. What a contrast with the unimagiative louts round here, walking four-abreast on the pavement - no room for me - or riding bikes on same.

Nice to see it's the correct way up

Q. How should the Union Flag be flown?

A. The Union Flag must be flown the correct way up. This is with the wider diagonal white stripe above the red diagonal stripe in the half nearest to the flag pole. The wider diagonal white stripe should be above the red diagonal stripe at the top left hand side of the Flag nearest the flag pole.

And something I didn't know.

Q. What is half-mast?

A. Half-mast means the flag is flown two-thirds of the way up the flagpole with at least the height of the flag between the top of the flag and the top of the flag pole. If more than one flag is flown, they should all be raised at half-mast or not flown at all. Flags of foreign nations should not be flown unless their country is also observing mourning.

It only really matters to the Scotties as their presence on the flag must be given preference over that of Ireland by being uppermost in the flying of it. If some of the Scotties get their way and they all become Billy No Mates then the potential to fly the flag the wrong way up will cease to exist when their presence is removed from the flag.
