Its only one branch of a student union. I don't necessarily agree with them but I'm glad they have the right to say it.

People should be free to do as they please, wear a poppy or don't. Nor should they have to explain that choice.

I can understand that encouraging individual thinking and debates, what I'm concerned about is that over time people may start believing that remembrance day simply glorifies war and it isn't about that at all.

Yes its about war but not for that reason for those and for everyone a chance too thank those who put there life's on the line and more.

I regard that one of the highest military honours serving there nation is something too be prideful off.

then again my passion for this is very strong at times but its something I truly believe in and that will never change.

Just hope that these future debates isn't going too cause a rift.

I think they always have caused rifts, not a big one but small ones. For example the white poppy has been around since the 1930s.

Then again I don't think anyone wants too try and cause a stir during the day.
Just been reading more about it and its caused a quite a bit of a political debate in the past.

Even thatcher herself hated it and the news paper taking full advantage of thatcher's distaste.

I got sent home from work for wearing a poppy two years ago. In Northern Ireland a poppy is considered a political statement. I was a nurse working in critical care at the royal when they sent me home. I work in the ulster now and didn't get sent home for wearing one last year, but I know some civil servants who work in the dwp who did.

I'll wear mine again this year. If they send me home they send me home.

we remember the 1st and 2nd world war but do we remember all the wars that went before?

In time perhaps, once anyone born before 1990ish is dead will these wars be remembered?

In the past the second world war seemed so long ago and then I would remember that my dad came here as a German Jew because of the war and I realised it was not that long ago after all. My dad been gone bout 20 years, I'm 20 years older and the second world war now seems so long ago. For those that do not have family or friends from the second world war or in or have been in the forces I wonder how important it is to them.

There were brave and honourable on both sides, lets pay our respects to them, they deserve that.
