Default Another arrival and it’s a beauty

Yesterday, I travelled down to Stockport to collect this beauty.
It was an impulse buy. I’ve always admired the 600 and have been fortunate to have been in a couple as a passenger over the years. Not for a few years now, mind you. It’s a shame that we don’t see these cars on the road. I’ve only ever seen one or two locally in the last few months.

So, anyway I’m looking at the classifieds as you do for no reason at all.... with no intention of buying a car as I have too many.... when this beauty showed its face for availability. This is the top of the range 620Ti model in Nightfire Red, 2.0 T series turbo engine producing 197bhp standard. Same engine as in my 220 coupe turbo. I didn’t even finish reading the advert and I was on the phone to the seller straight away. At first, I thought I’d missed out as he had a potential buyer but this didn’t work out and I was next in line. Train ticket was then booked to travel down to Buxton near Stockport. I caught the train from Kirkcaldy to Haymarket for my connection but missed the connection. Only I can miss a train when I’m standing on the correct platform on time and the train stops and then goes past me...don’t even ask....embarrassingh.

Thankfully, another train to Manchester arrived 30 minutes later so I got on that one to Piccadilly before getting another local train to Buxton.
I walked the short distance from the station to the garage where the car was located. I met Luigi, the owner who welcomed me. We had a cuppa and a sandwich and a chat about the car. The car was given to him by an old friend of his who has had to five up driving due to ill health. He’s had the car since new and it’s a clean, well looked after, unmolested standard example. One of those hidden gems....He then took me around the car and out for a test drive. The car looks exactly how it did in the advert, if anything better. It was mint with only a tiny scuff on the rear bumper. The car drives like new, too and goes like stink! I was in awe. The car has only done 33k since new and comes with 12 months MOT, full service history and two keys. I then parted with my cash and signed on the dotted line before driving off into the sunse....actually, rain. It rained for most of the journey home, unfortunately. I was very sleepy, too so had to make a few service stops as it was pitch black, too and so many muppets on the road. I feared for my baby.

The car will remain exactly as it is and I will attempt to bring it along the major car shows. I love it already and not even had it 24hrs!

Here are a few pictures that I took yesterday of my trip. Enjoy.

Train was empty and lots of leg room.

Carriage to myself pretty much

Even a place to charge my devices

Shame about the rubbish bacon roll. Coffee was needed, though.

Have a break, have a Kit Kat and why not?!

Some autumn colour by the window

Arrived in Manchester

And then Stockport

At the garage

Some go go juice for the drive home.

I and others spent many a happy hour doing many different tests on the phase 2 test beds in the flight shed at Longbridge, including fuel loops, ignition loops, power curves and detonation borderline tests on the T Turbo.

An excellent and underated engine. Hope you enjoy the car.

I wondered when we'd finally get to pictures of the car, and it is great; well done.
