Kaisers´s thermostat free from worry?

My mechanic, an experienced and admitted Rover/MG-expert, suspects, that Kaiser´s alloy thermostat could develop contact corrosion at the juncture to the engine block followed by problems or damages when the thermostat housing has to be removed. Does anyone have thougths, experiences or comments to this issue?

I have one on order for Dad’s car, I will have a look when it arrives and I install it.
I might smear it with some sort of barrier.

I intalled this thermostat five years ago ,never had any problem.....

They are a considerable improvement over an exceptionally poor original design.

Fit one and forget leaks in that area permanently

I think there is a bit of irony, the thread above this is commenting on how rubbish the plastic thremost are lol. From my personal experience I had the unfortunate pleasure to live with the plastic version and my emotions were on tender hocks all the time waiting for the day that it would fail.
Had the metal one fitted some years ago and apart from an annoying air lock in the system I have had a worry free experience.
With the amount of these that have been sold over the years to all corners of the globe I am sure anything negative would have been reported by now and even the guy who developed and makes it would of encounter anything negative by now and reported it or made changes to his product.

The seam on the plastic thermostat housing doesn't leak, it's flattened 'O' rings which are the source. But wait a minute, Kaiser's metal parts use the same 'O' rings as the MGR plastic parts. So why is Kaiser's modification successful?

It's heavier and thus more rigid so the whole assembly (particularly the thermostat housing which is "top heavy") cannot be moved by engine vibration transmitted via the hose connections.

This can be achieved with the original plastic parts as well by setting the serrated clips on the straight pipe as intended by MGR. There are many, many KV6s on the road which have never leaked.

Edit: Oh, I've just remembered that Kaiser's housing is fitted with an 80 degree thermostat so your engine will run too cool (MGR spec. is 88 degrees).

Well Dad's car is loosing water all the time now.
It has done 30k miles.

Just waiting for the kit from DMGRS, but I might have to do something in the meantime.

When I get the kit I will clean everything and grease/oil what I can.
