I've taken on board the advice given here, but given the way the autobox was when picking the car up after the change, and how it is now, I'm not sure that is the case here.

You could try removing under bonnet fuse number 4 for 20 minutes. This will reset the auto box ecu (and any learned parameters) and see if that helps.

One of the clutches within the gearbox is damaged and requires a rebuilt. FFS.
