Default Diesel V V6

Well now for a controversial post... After just finished fitting a clutch in a 2.0 V6 I have given it a good road testing.

Owners on here rave about the V6 engine being "Power full" and "smooth" and far better than the diesel engine.

Certainly the V6 is smoother than the Diesel but I find it to be lacking in power and torque I know you need to rev them more to get any sort of performance out of them but even making it rev it still felt flat even tho the VIS motors are working as they should.

Also I could not live with the fuel consumption after my "Tractor".

So I will be keeping my high mileage Diesel with its not so smooth engine but good torque and good fuel consumption.

Sorry guys

Compare a standard 2.0 v6 to a standard diesel (especially a 115) and it will suddenly feel rapid!

Went for a quick spin in Dave's (Airships) 2.5 V6 75 Connie on Friday night.....certainly felt slower than my ZT 2.5 V6 is there a difference in the way a 75 is set up compared to a ZT ?

Ive personally found that 15s to 18s make a big difference in the sense of "speed" on 75s.

Try a 2.5. Much better than the 2.0.

Agree. The V6 is disappointing in terms of power delivery and MPG. It is smoother then the diesel, I agree but that's not enough to tempt me. having owned both, I'd rather stick with the diesel. I wouldn't mind trying a 1.8 T, however.

I own a 160 CDT and a 2.0v6, both auto. The diesel is all the car anyone could ever want. It does everything really well - and just has the point and squirt oomph.

HOWEVER... I find the V6 the nicer drive. The engine is so smooth and as someone said on another forum "the KV6 is one of the best ways of turning money into noise!"

My CDTi was great, 160map, ronbox, straight through, 190 brakes and a few other bits and bobs.
Was very quick and torquey was great fun to drive, throttle response and everything was well sorted on it.
I actually preferred that to my current V6, even being a 190 i find it slow and under powered.
I really have to work it to get it to move, vis motors are new and i mean literally brand new not refurbed ones.
its regularly serviced, plugs are new etc... they just dont feel that quick due to the lack of torque.
I mean its not actually a slow car, in fact my 190 keeps pace with similar hp disels, its smokes my a4 tdi and keeps pace comfortably with my missus's 185bhp D5 volvo V50.
I do start to pull in the higher speeds..

But yeah bottom line is the lack of torque makes it feel dull vs the diesel.

I like cars with lots of torque so that usually means I prefer cars with a turbo It's not a top speed thing by any means as nowadays that just means you are willing to push the throttle right to the floor on a motorway and that's not really all that big or clever, how you get to '70' mph is where the fun is as is the pull out of corners on more fun roads. I don't actually care if they are petrol or diesel to be honest but I hate cars that just seem to make more noise when you press the accelerator rather than pushing you back in the seat a bit.

The exception to that is that I also like really light cars with engines that love to be revved - or motorbikes.......but somewhere along the way I got a bit too sensible for them and I can't seem to just plod along on one
