VVC Inlet Manifold for 1.8T
I have one of these VVC Inlet Manifolds and as some folks fit these to their 1.8 K-Series Turbocharged versions of these cars, I'm now wondering what advantages there are. Apart from being metal with less chance of Manifold Gasket leak issues.
Welcome any feedback and opinions on fitting a VVC Manifold. |

It could well be the "Placebo" effect, but after fitting mine, I found throttle response a bit crisper The plenum of the VVC inlet manifold is a lot larger than the OE, so a bit more air can get in Other than that, mainly eliminates the leak from there

Mine was fitted 2 years ago and no issues.
The original was ok but the garage in Gloucester that fitted it were not impressed with its condition and said it was a good decision to change it. Can't say I remember any benefits in performance. The biggest change in the engine was after I had valves and hydraulic lifters renewed. The difference really was noticeable and still is today. 1.8T engine.

Isn't there a slight difference in dameter of the runners/ports? I seem to recall the std k series is a little smaller than the vvc, si there will be a step - no issue if you never trouble the upper end of the rev counter I'm sure, but bound to reduce airflow at high revs.
All with the caveat that I've never actually checked the difference.. Oh, and the might be a clearance issue with the injectors or injector rail preventing it seating properly?. |

I agree with Suzublu - throttle response does seem better - and it does appear to have a larger volume plenum, i'm not sure of the pro's con's r.e plenum volume - it seems to work well with a K&N panel filter tho and the combo makes a Good sound
and i think it looks so much better it's worth doing on this basis alone Paul. |

Looks alone must give it en extra 10 HP
Like the others, I found the throttle response a little crisper. The engine itself also felt and sounded a lot smoother. Therefore no real power advantage, but extra smoothness felt like an extra 5-10 HP.

the exhaust wrap is "Titanium" heat wrap - i'm guessing it's NOT Titanium tho, just fibreglass - been on there a wee while now with no issues
can't remember which seller i purchased from, bought on ebay tho http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/10M-TITANI...25.m3641.l6368 A VVC head on a 75 would this work ? i.e would the VVC function ? that would be Cool do you have a support bracket for either manifold ? i know some have fitted without the bracket - i'd consider the bracket essential for this mod Paul. |

General consensus on the Web is that a VVC inlet manifold is designed to work with the VVC engine mods. Fitting a VVC Manifold does very little without the VVC engine mods. Apparently.
