Cool ALERT :~ 75/ZT 1.8T Turbocharger CHRA Coolant Supply Drain Union discrepancies

Over the past few years, I have rebuilt a few worn MG ZT 1.8T Turbochargers using CHRA units.

My very recent daily driver 55-Reg MG-ZT-T 1.8T was blowing clouds of blue smoke out of the exhaust. A sure sign of a worn turbocharger. No problem really so I will rebuild a spare worn Turbocharger using a new CHRA I had on the shelf. All went well with the rebuild until the time came to screw in the Coolant Supply and Drain Union Stubs. No way would they fit because their threaded locations on the new CHRA were drilled a couple of Millimetres too small. What to do?

Took the CHRA and the Coolant Union Stubs to a helpful small engineering firm I have used for small tasks in the past.

They reduced the diameter of the Union Stubs. Plenty of material to enable that to be done effectively with no risk of a weakened components. Plenty of material available on the stubs.

You want one of these for that little jobs. Well done for reporting it anyway.

Ah the old Colchester - back in the day used them in just about every workshop we worked in.
