Default Alloy spare in tourer with surround tool storage

Hi all never had a spare wheel before only the tins of foam, so have one now admittedly it’s flat at the moment so how do you all get it to fit with the cover as even with it flat it keeps the moulded cover up and when I close the main cover it sits up proud ?
Thanks

Send Ian G a message he has managed to do this, I’m sure he can explain what is needed.

Must depend on the alloy. I have a Crown wheel and it fits no problem.

Don't forget that Rob has a ZTT Steve so wheel size is 7.5 x 18 not the 6 x 15 as used on the 75 tourer..
They will fit but I needed to trim the top lip a little (20mm) to allow the load area floor to sit flush, thats with a full size spare wheel fitted with a 225 x 45 x 18 tyre.
I'll take a couple of photos tomorrow and add to this thread.

Cheers Ian

I never had the carpeted tray in my tourer when I bought it.
I picked up a second hand tray and couldn't get the foam tool holder to fit properly on top of the tray under the boot floor.
To sort the problem i got a saw and cut about 1.5 inches of foam of the lower side of the tool holder so it sat lower, it has been fine since

Hi Sorry for the delay but for some reason I'm suddenly unable to download pics from my phone..
So a description will maybe help you..
You need to reduce the height of the verticle lip around the outside of the liner. Raise the floor and place the liner in position in the spare wheel then if you use a small straight edge from the load area floor at the side you will see approx how much you need to cut off, don't forget to allow for the thickness of the load area floor, I marked the cutting height with a marker pen then used a chalk line to mark the cut line.
I used a 1mm cutting disc on a 4" angle grinder to make the cut.
Hope this helps out.
Cheers Ian

Thanks Ian have had rain the last week so in no rush to work on it, only thing that goes in the boot is the dog so I’m okay for the lip to stay up in the short term
