For curiosity, what made an 18yo go for a 75, as there are surely cheaper cars to go for, insurance wise.?
Not knocking your decision in any way.....I’d rather be in a 75 than a bean can, should the worst happen!😱 Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

£1300 insurance for an old 75?
Do you live in Syria? Ahh I see you are 18, but even so, get rid of the black box asap, what a rubbish way to insure a car. |

My son is in the same boat with his insurance, he's got 400miles from 5000 left, to last till September....
He is not the only one who drives the car, but the mileage goes on his policy as they can't be sure who was driving it. They (MoreThan) also want £1000 for 2000 more miles - he can't cancel as he needs the no-claims bonus - he's 17. A friend of ours has a daughter at university, she insured her car and left it at home while she's away - they got a call from her insurer saying they hadn't seen the car move, via the black box telemetry, for a long period, and were going to cancel her policy as she's not getting enough driving experience...you can't win. |

I park my 75 up for 3 months every year because of different work commitments and all I ever do is leave it in park hand break off remove the battery and put a cover it and when I come back check fluid levelsm put some air in the tyres, connect the battery and it starts first time and off I go straight away on an 700 mile journey broken into 2 parts 150 miles to the ferry to France and the rest in France to where I am going and never have had a problem.

My daughter was getting expensive black box quotes until I added my wife and myself to her policy, this reduced her premium down from £1450 to £850 and no black box, also moved the start date by two weeks which knocked off another £50.
Its quite handy really, because several times now my daughter has got us to drive her car, she still likes to catch the bus from time to time, quite sensible really. |

I get people asking me about that all the time - I really like the 75 and when I bought it I had a part time job. It was either buy a car I really want and spend a bit more money, or be stuck with a boring hatchback for a few years. The price difference isn't too much really either in regards to insurance, and as for the cost of the car, you can get a 75 for the cost of an old yaris, so it wasn't really a cost prohibitive option. I'm not sure how much more insurance was for my first year compared to a smaller car, but come renewal the difference between the 75 and a 1.25L fiesta is about £300. To me it was a no brainer, spend a bit more money and get a hell of a lot more enjoyment out of driving. Quote:

Unfortunately I've done all I can to reduce my quotes such as putting my parents on the insurance. Unfortunately I live in an expensive insurance zone.

By adding an older driver to your son or daughters first insurance policy will often reduce the cost, insurance companies will see an older more experienced driver sharing the vehicle. When either parent is using the car, the young driver isn't, therefore its less risk. |
