Got a quote for a roof/bonnet/boot/front bumper respray.

£950

£2500 for whole car exterior - they weren't too keen though. Said they prefer straight in, spray 'em and straight out jobs, no hanging about.

Think I'll pass.

Been a bit of damp in boot and now n/s/r lamp fault. Plug connector couple of pins corroded cleaned up and duck oiled, ok. Lamp already been silicone sealed. Found water coming in through the nut that holds body trim strip on so sealed that up too. Very satisfying.

Not today's exploits, but yesterday afternoon.

Came home from work, swore at car for letting me down. Had to take the train to work Thursday/Friday after it overheated on Wednesday night.

Fitted new fuel injector to No.2 cylinder.
Refilled coolant, and checked for any leaks - none. No oil in coolant or vice versa either.
So started it up, and my god the misfire of the past 6 months had gone! (Still not 100% smooth at cold idle but this may now be down to having a 1mm plug gap).
Sniffed the coolant for signs of HGF - none (phew!). Confirmed low speed fan kicks in at 104C and brings the temp down.

So then dared to take the car for a short test drive...and concluded that the thermostat is dying. Started off at 88C on the drive, and generally sat moving at 78-80C.
Conclusion therefore was that Wednesday's overheating was the death throws of the 'stat, and that swift action has spared further damage.

Changed this little blighter today, it was the source of my water loss, very slight, not enough to reach the floor.

Nice to see the MG rover garage that fitted the pump 18 months ago used black silicone to aid sealing 👹

I lowered the front passenger seat with head rest removed onto the rear seats which had been lowered, then I went on three journeys to collect the shiplap and stud wood ready for my new shed I am going to erect some time next week, had to obtain the shiplap from two different home base places as the nearest one did not have enough.

The Tourer is great to carry 2.4mtr lengths of wood so basically spent 4 hours running around in the Tourer with no aches or pains after only to my wallet after forking out for the timber, at least it worked out cheaper than buying a 13ft x 8ft shed which most places wanted £995 for

building it yourself is much more satisfying and you can have as many windows as you would like

Yesterday now, I changed the oil and filter, shell ultra and a Bosch filter, nothing but the best.
