Whining/Whirring noise on turning wheel
Hi all,
I've been noticing a whine while driving for a while now - it is mostly noticeable when going round roundabouts. Today while looking for a coolant leak with the engine running, I turned the wheel a little and noticed the whine. I found that at idle it is noticeable but not that loud, when holding revs at 1500-2000 the noise is very loud - coming from drivers side. The noise goes away with no load on steering. Tried to video it but audio on phone seems a little distorted - very short clip below: https://youtu.be/uUoRrSKfkAo Any ideas? There is fluid in steering pump reservoir. My son thought it was coming from alternator area. |

I would look at the power steering belt as you get the sound when the wheel is in play.

Have you checked the fluid level on the power steering?
