Changed the balance vis motor.now working.
Got the reversing sensors working again.
Tried to find out what's going on with the fuel gauge.

Drove round and all the faults are back.
Back to square one.

Hi trikey,
On the balance vis I get open circuit. So changed it for a known good one. Fault clears. Drove to work and did a test again and get the same fault.
Reversing sensors are the same will work then stop.then start working again.
Fuel gauge is just as random. It could be reading over half a tank full. Then less than half without even turning the engine on. Then it will read above half a tank.
My snap on ethos diagnostic kit says sensor 1 in the tank is faulty. The obd says all is ok.
Test 6.00 I get a reading of fuel.
Test 6.1 all I get is _ _ _ _
Test 6.2 I get 1.6.2 and a reading of fuel.
Have taken a look in the tank and filler side of the tank was full and the float and arm seemed ok.
Passenger side again float and arm seem ok .but not much fuel left in the tank
Car drives well in fact I'm amazed the difference in the two engines

Thanks
Steve

Further to the first post I now have two nice and shiny rear discs.

Mot Wednesday next. Hoping for a pass.

I would be attacking the fuel sensor issue first Steve, chances are the sensors will be a dodgy rear loom, I'd check the plug and wiring from the vis motor if you know the replacement is a good one.

Have done a ohms test a per one off the forum and it did work out about right seems ok at the plug on the tank.
One thing I thought was odd loads more on the filler cap side than the passenger side when looking into the tank. I would have thought it would be around the same level on both sides.
Vis motor only did that today so needs a bit more looking into.i did think the butterfly valve was a bit tight.

Well Blue is in bed in the garage until this weather goes! A friend at work had a bin fly into his new sports beemer leaving a large dent so trying to avoid that! I spoke to the paint guy last night about my lacquer peel though. He's on holiday next week but she's going in on his return. Custom kicks on order with Rick and awaiting him doing the bonnet mirrors again. I have given in to the bling.

Another (Hopefully final) Attempt at curing the water leak into the boot, new clips fitted and sealed with rubber guttering sealant, if the water gets in now there will be trouble!

Failed 3 speed fan (slow speed failed) replaced with 2 speed today along with suspect themostat - In the hope of keeping the temps lower in traffic.

So old fan cut in at 96/97, car kept to about 92 in while cruising A roads, upto 107 in traffic where fan would kick in a cool down to 96-ish.

Now car runs over 99-109 while cruising at 60-70, drops to 96-98 while doing 60 or less. Up to 113 in traffic.

Oddly, temps appear to increase a few degrees when fan kicks in initially before slowly dropping...then it fluctuates up and down whether fan on or not - started to think the fan was running backwards, but seems ok...

Maybe some air in system? Hot air comes from vents on both sides.

Will be monitoring temps closely for next couple of weeks.

Had a new set of Uniroyal Rainsport 5s fitted all round.
Changed the oil.

Confirmed that the gearbox is leaking oil
