Default ZT 190 - clutch bite point question

I find the clutch on my ZT different to any other car I've driven and I just want to know if others' experience is similar.

When coming off the clutch in my 190, the clutch will begin to bite and the car will start to move quite low down the pedal travel. So far so good.

I find though that full, final engagement of the clutch isn't achieved until my foot is almost off the pedal though.

The result is that you can think the clutch has engaged part way up, but if you just lift your foot off you'll get a jerk. Instead you have to continue to control the clutch all the way up the pedal travel to make for smooth changes.

I've had the car for 3 years and it's always behaved like this, so I assume it's by design. Most other cars seem to start to bite somewhere around the middle of the pedal travel, and finish pretty quickly, where as the ZT has this long bite travel. It's not so much a bite "point" as a general bite area.

Does you car do the same?

my zt-t is the same even after a complete clutch and cylinders change. easy to get used to if you dont need a racing start from the lights tho.

Thanks for the response. Especially the part about having changed the clutch and cylinders. I have been toying with the idea of changing the clutch, wondering if mine was on its way out. It's good to know mine isn't unique in this behaviour.

My clutch starts to engage quite quickly. Only about an inch off the floor. Been like that for years.----

My ZT 160 bite point was just before the half way point.

A 190 ZTT courtesy car I borrowed a couple of years ago had a low bite point about an inch or so off the floor (once I had pumped the peddle to actually get it off the floor...)

Same with an Astra I have acquired, bites almost as soon as you lift off, then jerks a bit if you don't lift the peddle a certain way...
