Thanks Ed. 14.2 v is good but it's low at idle. With those voltages I'm not sure how the warning light can be off at idle but illuminated at normal engine speeds.

Those are also good readings. I'm still puzzled as to why your battery warning light is illuminating.

Although mine 75 is diesel it's a similar fault I guess, there's a wire shorting out so that 12 volts are not getting to the warning light to extinguish it. I might not of explained it very well but that's the gist of it I'm led to believe.

The reason I quoted in my previous post on this thread.

The voltage at each side of the lamp must balance for the light to go out. A failing connect in either of the wires to the lamp will cause it to flicker.

Simple.---

Well, perhaps not so simple Jon. The "lamp" is an LED and it's integral with the instrument pack. There is only one external wire connection.

Over to you!

Well that must be the one then unless it's a dry solder joint on the instrument pack or the LED itself is about to expire.---

I would run a wire from the alternator to a separate bulb and see if the issue replicates itself there, if it does it must be an alternator fault, if not its a wiring issue.
