Default At a loss and a bit desperate now ...

After the front wing liner wrenched and damaged the ABS wiring , I've drilled out and replaced the sensor yesterday in between showers and that got the ABS light went out .

Now today unplugged the abs cable , reffitted the liner and with now gn on and the ABS lights back on again !! .. unplugged a few times and no change ..

What test can i do to find where the problem is thinking the damage might be in the wiring above the blue connector into the harness ?

Cable feels ok and no visible damage.

Is there anyway to plug something in place of the sensor to see if the light will go out ? and prove the point .

where does the abs wire go after it disappears into that massive harness ? , doe it just go straight across the harness and out up into the underbonnet area ? or off into the wiring depths ?

here's hopein ' someone might have a clue

In some cases you actually need to drive it in order for it to reset. A short 100 yds up the road should be enough.

Follow Mike's advice and all should be ok, if not then something else is amiss and will need investigation.

Checked the new sensor with my meter on AC, spinning the brakes shows no output

Reconnect and the light goes out, so it's passing the initial system test.
All seems to work but on occasions at walking pace I can get the pedal buzz ?

Switch your meter to DC and try again. The voltage should change between 0.7v and 1.7v as the magnetic segments are detected in the reluctor ring.

Had to get it all back togeether for work today ..

So at the moment .. the issues are

1 ..ABS activating at walking pace or slower ..

2 ..and today, it seems the Cruise control seems to be not quite right ?

Does the LH sensor get used by cruise ?

Yes the cruise uses the LH ABS sensor. If you reconnect your meter then move the wheel slowly and check each reluctor segment on the near side wheel. From the fault you describe it sounds like the reluctor may have been slightly damaged, or there is some swarf or rust on the reluctor from drilling the sensor out.

If it checks out then try the NSF wheel, OSR and finally the NSR.

If you mark the tyre with chalk you should end up with 48 marks if all the segments are in good order.

Thanks for confirming that Mike ,

The car had no issues until the loose liner ripped out the abs wiring..

Before drilling the sensor out I moved the driveshaft back to see whats what , and the rear of the bearing is/was completley clean . and you can't mark the bearing with a ( 12mm) drill unless you are hamfisted and drill out the stop ledge at the bottom of the Sensor hole

Could easily be a coincidence then Chris and nothing to do with the NSF wheel. Does sound like on one wheel an ABS sensor is missing the odd segment though.

Did you clean any rust off under the sensor before refitting? Any rust will alter the gap between the sensor and the segments.
