That's another thing! there are all sorts of grasses/plants growing in the lawn under the feeders.

Our feeders have slabs under them, very little growth, especially with sunflower seeds. The old feeder location was above gravel and we used a general bird seed mix, used to get all kinds of triffids sprouting up! The birds would only eat the good seeds and throw the "cr@p" over their shoulder, that's why we only use the sunflower hearts now, virtually no wastage.

That's what they do with the feeders here, throw the seed they don't like on the lawn & just eat the good stuff. The wood pigeons land on the lawn to eat some of the spillage.

Morning all.

Up in the North East on babysitting duty.

Great day yesterday with a lovely walk around Causey Arch - apparently the world's oldest railway bridge (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Causey_Arch) and a stop at the little cafe there - which is well worth a visit . Quizzie did, of course, find the river many times and lost a brand new ball.

Then off to Marsden Bay for more fun. Sandcastle building with Oliver and chase the waves with Quizzie. Stayed dry .

This morning it's heaving it down and both Oliver and Quizzie are fast asleep.

Have a good weekend.

Its lashing down here now, can hear the water gushing out of the water barrel overflow like a hose.

Bored, still lashing down so decided to have a look at Sky Movies. Ah, a new release, sci-fi, "Portal". 84 minutes later I'm left wondering . . . . what the hell was that about?!

Evening all, hope you managed a pint in the Grotto Andy?

Causey arch bridge is the oldest railway bridge in existence, a lovely place to visit.

I'm always interested in old railways, there's a few closed lines here that I used to drive over

When I was young and we lived in Berwick used to walk the dog on the disused Tweedmouth to Kelso line.

I like walking along disused railway lines, they are usually lined with either vast emptiness, or lots of abandoned buildings.

Both have a certain appeal.
