When I was on two wheels setting out a route for the ride outs was a task in itself. Remember this is IAM/RoSPA not just a group of mates out for a hoon and everyone was expected to ride to the Highway Code & "Roadcraft" and respect all limits.

The current trend for dropping limits for no apparent reason leads to folks looking for alternatives. The alternatives tend to be smaller, derestricted roads which by almost by definition are less frequented, have less space and are more hazardous.

So, if the worst happens, you're off the beaten track, more difficult to find and take longer to find etc.

And, apparently, that's safer. It also sort of links in to the introduction of a black box data logging you and alerting you if you're speeding. I'd bet that we can all find local roads that if you can hit the speed limit you're either incredibly talented, incredibly stupid or in a very bad place and need of a chat with the Samaritans.

Take care all.
