Default Annoying suspension noise fixed!

This has been an annoying one since I bought the car, and had the suspension setup inspected by a few people. It's had 2 lots of droplinks, new lower arm bushes and the MOT man gave it a clean bill of health, but still there was an annoying noise from the front suspension.

Over speedbumps it sounded like a knock, over surface undulations it sounded more like a rattle - I thought they were two separate issues.

Anyway being the mechanical idiot I am I decided to have a poke about round the front end, and waggle stuff aimlessly. Only thing I noticed was the LH tyre protector wasn't tightened up properly and there a couple of mm movement against the cup that holds the spring. Decided to nip that up while I was on my knees.

However I now have a silent front suspension! For the first time in 75 ownership I've got one that now is not noisy from the front end! I can't believe it was something so simple, and a relatively small part that was making all that clatter!

Happy chap

Good find.

Maybe in time someone else with a rattle will read this thread and it will solve their problem.
