Not so bad - my last list was double this!
Brake pipes are good for many years (usually life) when done, power steering leak is usually from a union (remove pipe, clean up, reseat - if O Ring is used for seal, I'd replace that too) and brake discs and pads are easy enough.

Good luck with the work, hope the weather holds off!

I've found more recently MOT stations put on advisories to make them look like they're doing a good job.

Have to agree, a local garage used to service and MOT each year, without exception they showed advisories on every service invoice and every MOT - until they upset me and lost my personal and trade service / repairs on multiple cars worth several £1,000's a year.

Went back to an independent MOT station they did no repairs at all, advisories became a thing of the past, car either passed or failed, no more silly comments or meaningless back-covering advisories.

I had brake pipe fail on motorway about 4 months ago very frightening pedal to floor and no brakes. Got to service area safely and got RAC to take car home. Had them all, replaced to be on safe side. Pads and discs not a problem to replace. Cost me £400 for pipes all round but now I know that I am not going to have to replace them for a long time.

Have to disagree with those complaining about advisories.

I know there's a certain mental 'preening' we all do when the car goes through MoT with no advisories and they can seem like a badge of shame to some because it says the car is not in 'perfect' condition.
Equally, I can see some garages may be tempted to use them to 'tout' for work.

But I see them as a free and welcome pointer to something that the tester spotted that I can check out and sort, if necessary, at my leisure.

Plus it's usually something underneath while on the ramp, a view I don't often get and so something I might not become aware of until it's become more expensive or dangerous.

So, for me, keep 'em coming.

I put my last car ( Rover 45 ) in for a full service and MOT.

After the service they failed it on a blown stop lamp bulb, replaced then bulb - charging me for additional materials and labour over the already expensive full service - then passed it.

For some funny reason they have dropped off my "garages to use" list .....

This shouldn't be the case and not the reason for 'advises'

Some garages are worse than others.
