Peugeot-Citroen agrees deal with GM to buy Vauxhall-Opel
For those who are wondering - "The deal has raised fears of job losses at Vauxhall's UK factories, which employ 4,500 workers." Just a change of ownership from one foreign owner to another. But anything for a scare news story even from the Beeb. Plants might close, but that would have always been true.

So the Tories have done to Vauxhall, what Labour did to MGR. Peugeot will asset strip the Company and then close it. I give them 4 years max. So in the space of 15 years, the Politicians have let the three oldest and largest manufacturers of volume cars in the UK, all close their factories, Longbridge, Dagenham and now Luton, disgusting.

I suspect you are correct in what you say will happen though but its different to what Labour did to MG Rover - they could have nationalised/propped it up like the French did with Renault/PSA via the back door. I hope JLR will now see the benefits of a new Rover brand to fill in the mainsteam gap that will be needed if/when Vauxhall's UK plants close |

Looks like GM were desperate to get rid, although reading reports its no surprise why. Opel/vx have lost money for 6 consecutive years. GM have almost had to pay PSA to take them over.

Yes I can see it going that way too Derek, PSA have been on a big cost cutting venture recently, I don't see PSA having any interest in Vauxhall especially in a post Brexit world, the Germans and the French will do a deal to keep the jobs in Europe, thats for sure. PSA now have access to GM's BEV (battery electric vehicle) technology i.e. Chevrolet Bolt & Volt/Ampera. I should imagine they will go into manufacturing those as the diesel engined cars are facing an uncertain future!
