Question Tow bar Electrics Question is. Is TEB7AS bypass necessary?

Have fitted Witter "Stowbar" kit to two of my ZTs. No electrics so far.

Is it best to fit a Bypass module or simply Scotch Block to the boot's wiring loom?

When removing a Tow Bar from a 75 in a local breaker yard, I also took the connected Bypass Module and all its wiring. Even the terminals on the module are labelled.

So any answers and hints here will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

the teb7as is needed. sets of bulb failure if not. I fitted mine along with the towbar a few weeks ago by myself in about an hour so really easy to do, just scotch lock into the wiring loom in the boot

When I fitted my towbar, I used a bypass relay to stop the canbus having a fit.

I cut, soldered and crimped all the wires so I don't have any issues that can happen with scotchlocks.

Definitely use the relay, definitely don't use scotchlocks.

Done 2 zt's this way without problems, never had any bulb failure warning issues when hooked up either.

I installed the relay - just to be sure.

And also used the heavy power lead that I ran from the fusebox to the boot to power an auxiliary power socket in the boot.

Useful for all sorts of things.

Thanks for this I wanted a aux socket in the boot and completely forgot about this power lead that was fitted to the relay

I think if you don't have a split charging relay and have a caravan attached, it can flatten the car battery if left connected overnight without the engine running. The fridge may draw 12v from the car. This is only a guess on my part but once left he caravan connected to the car overnight and I had a flat battery
