Default Air Temperature Sensor Fitment

My sensor was being held on by a cable tie to the centre wire grill as the metal bracket held by 2 screws to the bumper had corroded away. I did not have the central plastic grill that aligns with the fog lamps so bought one to fit and it appears to have a tab that the sensor should be fitted to (later modification?). Point is that after clearing out the rusty debris from the sensor it does push onto the tab but not all the way so is a little insecure. So question is, is the tab meant for the sensor and should it push all the way on?

Default

My sensor was on the bottom of the bumper, and when I tried to put it back on the plastic tab the tab broke off. That was because, like yours, it wouldn't fit securely. I stuck the sensor to where it should go with those double sided sticky pads that are used for sticking on number plates
