Service Reset Too - Rover 75 prr-facelift.

Morning.

It's not rainy today !!!

I have a Service/oil reset tool which I bought for the facelift 75 we had for a short while at the start of the year. The rest tool doesn't work on the mk1 75 - does anyone know where to buy a cheap one from please?

Many thanks in anticipation of your kind help/guidance.

That's odd. Both systems are reset in the same way - unless the tool is rather more sophisticated than most.

Plenty of cheap resetters on ebay.

I don't know if my service reset tool is faulty then. I used it at the start of the year when I had the Mark II 75 and it worked perfect but when I tried it this week on the Mark I model it hasn't reset the service/oil etc.

All 75/ZT resetters work by simply shorting pins 4 and 8 for a specific time. It's exactly as per the paperclip method, except the tool always connects with the right pins and has a bit of bounce protection in the switch. Using one prevents you accidentally blowing fuses, notably the clock fuse, but I guess more serious hazards also lurk for the unwary paperclip pusher.

I bought a Gunston one new thinking I would be covered but it refuses to work on my Mk1 CDT!

Seconded. Just note that the sequence and timing of ignition key and button on tool is critical and can take a couple of goes to get right.
