Which battery vacuum cleaner?
Hi.
I get fed up having to get the mains powered vacuum set up when cleaning the inside of my cars. Can anyone recommend a good battery vac that will do the job well and get in the nooks and crannies and have good suction and cleaning power? I never let the inside get too bad but don't want to buy a toy that is a waste of time. Any recommendations from personal use? I don't really want to spend a fortune but don't want to waste my money on cheap rubbish either. I see Lidl are selling one tomorrow for £50 but could be junk for all I know. |

not used one but take a look at Dyson, they do a smallish one with a rotating brush.
Having a battery one, i'd never buy a small vac without a rotating brush as I don't think the have the suck to get as much off the carpet. Our vax is poo macafee2 |

I haven't tried a battery vac since the black and Decker dust busters. The thing that puts me off most is the potential lack of suction compared to my numatic. (Who do a great backpack type one that our cleaners in work rave about). The rigidity of any body on a vacuum is off putting too. So if I cannot be annoyed with plugging (we've become so lazy in society haven't we? Lol) in the vacuum, I'll go to the garage and use the coin operated ones.

I'm loathed to say it hand held dysons seem to be about the best in terms of suction / life for domestic use.
They cost rather a lot for what they are bit the brushless DC motors have the edge. They can be had second hand with cheap filters and batteries readily available. I don't rate most of the products - solving problems that aren't really there unlike the bagless cleaners which solved a pretty big issue. |

Have a look at the Vax 24V Blade. Bought one recently to use around the house and found that it was great for car vacuuming too. Also far cheaper than the overly expensive Dyson.

Hehe, I "acquired" the wife's Dyson pet plug in because she won't clean the filters so demanded a new machine. Quick bit of maintenance and it does my car a treat. Now mine in the garage for keeps, all you need is an extension lead.

We've got a Dyson cordless, got it a couple of years ago, about £130 at the time, its brilliant for the car, battery lasts about 20 mins on max, 30 on normal, and comes with a powered rotating brush.

I can clean all three of my cars on the same charge. Going to a show or meet just make sure the Dyson is fully charged and take it with you.

Well, thanks for all the replies and recommendations. I will certainly do some homework and have a look around.
I may or may not stay with mains power as I already have two in my garage, but thanks again. |
