updated DVD for High Line
I have just bought off ebay a High Europe DVD, was wanting to update my 2014 disc. It says 2020 High on disc and includes several Bmw series, the mini and Rover 75 on front of disc. Says it includes 5 and 7 digit postcode input options.
Before i try putting this in my dvd does anyone know if this will work with the High line 2002 model as there is no option currently to input a postcode. I dont want to ruin my whole system by putting in a dodgy disc. thanks

Assuming you have the mk4 DVD player and not the mk2 or 3 which are both CD players then you should have no problems. The MK4 clearly has DVD written on the front of it.
If you do have the mk4 then this is what you need to know https://the75andztclub.co.uk/forum/s...ad.php?t=31183

Hi the player in the boot just says GPS navigation system on the front of it, so not sure what I have got. I have a separate CD player in the glovebox. I looked at the link you sent me but it seems to be a BMW system.

If your sat nav unit looks like one of these then it is either a Mk2 (pic 1) or a Mk3 (Pic2). both of these are CD units and a DVD will not work with them

The new disc you've purchased is for the Mk4 (DVD) sat. nav. drive. If you have a bit of spare dosh you can easily upgrade to the Mk4 (which is plug and play) on-line for £80-120 (IMHO you'll get better sat. nav. via your smart 'phone) |

Thanks very much for the info. Wish had asked before ordering. However, maybe i should upgrade the player as you suggest. But I do like my Highline even though its outdated - is there any other disc I could get later than 2014? It works fine, just keeps getting me lost when it does not recognise new roads etc.

The latest CD maps for the mk2/mk3 drives were released in 2015, there's not been any new releases since then. For the DVD mk4 drives, updates are still available and both of my cars have been updated with mk4 drives with newer, DVD maps (not the latest though, don't buy them every year).
The mk4 drives are a great update if you still want to use the original navigation system, you'll get faster computation, perspective mode which is fake 3D but good enough, and better voice-over...plus all countries on a single DVD instead of having one, possibly two different CDs to use for each single country.

I don't think so Jennifer.
I also have the mk.3 hi-line navigation and I like it too. I'm using this CD which is 2014-15 and the newest available as far as I know. Why is yours getting you lost? If you could explain what's happening I might be able to help. Simon

my system
Hi Simon and Scoubix thanks for your replies. For instance when I drive up to Norfolk after Dartford it does not tell me to turn off on the Ipswich road while the google maps does, and if I go somewhere where there are new roads it does not recognise them. I think I will try and get the disc you have and maybe keep the one I just bought until i can upgrade the DVD.

Could that be because the "route selection" needs changing? You want to use the A12 to Ipswich, yes? Do you have "fastest route" selected at the moment? If so, that will always direct you via motorways even if it involves excess mileage. For destination Norfolk from the Dartford crossing it will probably take you to the M11. Try changing to "main roads", that should fix it. Quote:
I hope that's a little bit of help! Simon
