I thought they should be 125nm
Always tell garages to tighten wheel bolts by hand, never an air gun as they over tighten them. Heard so many stories of over tightened wheel bolts. I also tell them that the bolts (as far as I know) should be tightened to 125nm macafee2 Last edited by macafee2; 1st August 2021 at 08:35.. |

I believe the torque figure to be 125 nm 92.1 lbs/ft but in the grand scheme of things 5nm approx 3.5 lbs ft will not make a great deal of difference when torqueing a wheel bolt with a torque wrench that has an accuracy of within -5% to +5% of the torque value . It will be within 10% of the actual torque value so wouldn't worry

I can confirm that the figure given in RAVE is 125 Nm. If you have a torque wrench, I'd recommend that you check them each time after collecting your car from a garage or tyre centre. Simon

someone might like to mention that the torque value for the locking nuts will differ and is generally lower. I don't have the numbers to hand at the moment. (also different styles of locking bolts may have differing torque requirements).

I saw exactly this happen when I had two new tyres fitted to my bus, the fitter did the wheel nuts up to a couple of dugga duggas and then put the torque wrench on then - it clicked at 400 lb/ft alright, but when I got the bus back home I needed a 6' bar to crack them off, before I did them back up with a standard HGV wheel brace and final tighten with a torque wrench. |
