Cool Screen washer pump

Are the pumps all the same or are there different types? Going to need one for the V8. Works occasionally and the light keeps coming on to tell me it needs filling, even when it’s full.

I imagine they will be the same, as the bottle I have read is the same as one of the 1.8 variants (although I may be corrected on this). If it is, I imagine there will be BMW versions that will fit.

Have you checked to see if the filter needs to be cleaned?

I had this recently (without the light coming on) and then it stopped completely. With lockdown, and using an unfamiliar to me, screenwash, it had developed mould (smelled of vomit when it was used - a lot of scented washer fluids do this, but this was not scented - I dont understand the reasoning for scented fluid).

I knew the mould was the issue, due to the smell, and hoped this was the problem when the washer 'dribbled'. Removed the motor, along with the seal which doubles as a filter and wiped it down, blowing through it (not recommended lol), service resumed. I could imagine the mould could settle on and cause havoc with the level sensor.

If this does work, I would suggest removal of the bottle to clean it out of residual mould (I havent had time to do mine).
