Default Never seen this issue before

Went out to the car this morning and noticed that the bottom dial that indicates total mileage, trip mileage and temperature were illuminated even though the car was locked.

Checked the plenum which needed a drain and changed the pollen filter at the same time as I had a spare in the house and it looked bad.

Car starts fine but that dial is still illuminated even when locked. Could it be an ignition barrel issue or something else if anyone has come across this before.

Its not that unusual, had the same with the 1.8T I had and know several other members its happened to. As Dave said, disconnect the battery for a while.
