This is the controller for the fuel burning heater. I assume you have one (its in front of the battery)?

Its the timer for your webasto heater. The instructions for use should be in your owners manual. Read them you will be glad you did its a great bit of kit on those cold mornings

By the way the webasto heater is a small water boiler located in front of the battery, it is used to speed up the heating of the engine coolant and so the car heater as diesel engines take longer than petrol engines to heat up. It uses diesel as its fuel and simply pumps the engine coolant through itself.

You are making lots of people jealous at this time of year.

It's great to have a car that has the windows demisted /de-iced, the engine warm and the cabin nice and cosy on a frosty morning when others are using a scraper.

I have mine set so that when I go to the car park after work, its all warmed up ready and waiting.

Fantastic bit of kit - not cheap either.

I've a 2002 diesel with the FBH but do not have this in the centre armrest. Has this been added or could I have one somewhere else I haven't seen?

Isn't it a good idea to fire it up occasionally in the summer to clear the bugs? How would you do this?.

The webasto heater on yachts should be run up every month the instructions say so, so would have thought its the best thing to do. The boat ones are the warm air heaters and not water heater like the 75.

With all this warm air , down south at least, it may be that it never fires up if the temperature does not go below the required 5 degrees C.

Yes it's an extra option.

Just like in all the HGV drivers' sleeper-cabs it works like a night heater and can be programmed just like domestic central heating to come on and go off up to three times a day.

It can be started at any time simply by pressing the flame symbol button on the left. It only runs for 30 minutes so's not to flatten your battery.

Magnificent piece of kit. Great for winter trips to the Alps.

More than once I've had a hotel receptionist phone me in my room just as I'm getting ready to set out, to inform me that my car is on fire in the car-park!

Yes I do run it every few weeks even in summer just to make sure pumps and seals are kept lubricated and free.

It doesn't have to be as low as 5C for it to start up itself - mine comes on for a few minutes any old day thats a bit chilly. In the winter she runs for quite a while till everythings up to working temperature.

From what you have said above I assume to start it at any time you need the timer. I do not have the timer and therefore dont know how to start it manually at above 5 degrees C. Possibly by connecting some of the terminals with a piece of wire?
