75 Bonnet Catch Release Broken
Hi guys. The release catch on my 2003 75 1.8T does not work. The lever went slack, and I tried pulling on the cable behind it with a pair of pliers but all it did was pull the cable through into the car. Clearly something has broken or become disconnected. Some time ago I did reinforce the joint next to the plastic junction box on the inside of the O/S wing with cable ties, as I know that is a known weak spot, but other than that it is all standard. Can you please assist me with some advice as to how to get the bonnet open? I've tried PMing FrazzleTC as I believe he has a solution to this, but his message box is full and won't accept any incoming mail. Many thanks.

The interior cable must have pulled away from the junction box, which means the other 2 are still in the box. You'll need to put your hand up inside the wheelarch cover and pull on them with pliers.
BTW, Frazer hasn't been on the forum for a long time |

Thanks for that. Sounds a bit tricky, but I'll have a go!

I sent a message earlier via the 'Contact Us' page, so hopefully someone will see it.

Just had an email from a mod, showing me what to do.
I owe a big 'thank you!' to that gentleman. |

Don't forget folks if you have this problem grease or oil everything well on re-assembly.
All you other folks do it NOW or be sorry later.--- |
