Default Thermostat possibly bad CDTI 03. What inline thermostat to buy?

Car does not really get up to temp. I will do a coolant flush and replace the thermostat, which inline should i use. Renault 4/5?

I did not change the thermostat only placed the inline thermostat in the top hose, - and by memory in a way with no loss of coolant that was in the car and five years on all works fine. Others may do things differently.

Gates THO1489 is superior to the French offering. Higher opening temp and better quality.

When you say ‘does not really get up to temp’, how are you checking?
The temperature gauge on our cars is not designed to be accurate and is of no real indication unless the engine is overheating.
Best way to monitor actual running temperatures is to use the on board diagnostics, plenty of information on that on this forum - use the search bar at the top of the forum page.
Would post up a link, but don’t seem to be able to.

I did that about 3 years ago. Been fine since. Costs about a tenner from DMGRS for the kit. Takes about max 90 minutes .
