Unhappy cd changer problems.

i've just plugged in my new changer and it doesnt seem to work, with the ign off all it does it make a noise and will carry on clunking away and it won't stop, but as soon as i turn the ign on and back off again it will stop!

and also if i press the cd button it does'nt do a thing, even with a disc in the changer.

thanks for your help guys!

They do tend to clunk for a while after loading the cartridge, as it checks all 6 trays. Just a thought, try loading the cartridge fully. It might be having a problem because it can't read the empty trays... ?

What radio is it attached to?

Any "Error" message showing up on the radio display?

For Information Only.

The Alpine changers must have "NO" empty spaces in CD Magazine, as this can cause a Malfunction of unit.

Check the connectors, make sure they are tight fitting. Hang on... it's a toggle switch, you are, I presume firmly pressing the CD side of the switch and not hitting it dead centre? Stick a tape in the radio and see what happens? - just another thought...... Try the steering wheel mode control.....

It's got to be something simple...... The CD changer was NEW as opposed to new to you?
