Terrible fuel consumption, you could empty the 3 gallon tank in under 50 miles and even driven carefully it would only do 100 miles.
I had a 500 H1 triple, which got traded for a 750H2. 18mpg adrenaline pump.

is an oilmaster the same as the 'posilube' I had one of them

They produced a pretty good race bike too (250cc and 349/351cc versions) and I'm sure they had positive oiling but they were still prone to seizure so their works riders (Czech Frantisek 'Frank' Stastny and the great Bill Ivy who was killed racing the Jawa) developed very twitchy right index fingers.
..and here's a jaw dropper for you bikers. For a short time I also owned a 250cc MZ road bike - well balanced and robust machine with some neat engineering ideas considering it was a conventional 2 stroker (with that tinkling exhaust overrun) but poor quality materials let them down. Here's the jaw dropper, I came by the MZ as a part ex. for my beloved Velocette Thruxton 500cc (39bhp) single which the wife told me I had to get rid of (we needed the cash in those days) - don't know what the MZ would be worth today (probably nowt but a smile) but the Velo would get you +£25K; had it from new in 1966 when it cost me £399!!
MZ too had a very successful road race team (their Dip.Eng.Walter Kaaden perfected the 2 stroke disc valve technology, resonance back pressure exhaust systems and remote oiling) and for a few years they gave the works Suzuki and Yamaha teams a good run for their money. Happy days
PS - done a bit of research and my Jawa memory isn't as good as I thought - the last iteration that Bill Ivy died on was a V4 2 stroke and even now it looks a very modern design - and sounds fantastic.

Most were blue/silver :-) this is a 250cc 5 speed but its the base model, I suspect yours was a supa5 with chrome panels on the tank ? this is actually the same bike but with a smaller tank, no chrome, same
engine though, this has 16" wheels, yours likely had 18" front and 16" rear, build quality is excellent and it goes amazingly well, I bought it for winter use as there is nothing to rust ie no chrome, it goes much much better than it looks and would easily give a jap 250cc commuter bike a run for its money

My ownership was short and a long time ago but the barrel fins to me appeared enormous and they had inserted vertical rubber damper plugs - is that right?
Took me a long time to get over losing the Thruxton - fitted like a glove, handled like a dream one-up, bit of a camel two-up.

That looks really nice ..... a much improved headlight I think - my old 125 had an ugly thing that was flat on the top and had a silly spade key thing.

Yours looks much improved.
