Default 1999 Nav info + what is the correct disc?

Hi all

I have a May 99 Connoisseur SE with factory highline system.

Have managed to revive the radio with a new boot module but nav has no disc so can't try it.

I have tried a disc from a friends 2002 unit but it rejects that disc and their nav module looks visibly different.

Mine lights up fine, is bone dry inside but I need to know if the disc is different for earlier cars.

Photos of my unit below (hopefully).

The newer ones use DVD's, the older nav units (like yours) use CD's - which is probably why it wouldn't read the disk.

I believe there are updates available on CD's, but not sure which year(s).

I'm sure someone else will be along soon to let you know which ones, though

Hello @Matt 75!

I've got the same CD Satnav as yours (my V6 2.5 Connie was built 1st July 1999) and here are your CDs:

They are working fine on my Lowline.

Hi,as BigBen mentioned,it would have been a DVD disc you tried,I put one in my Launch car once not realising and it froze, worst part it would not eject, you could hear the player trying to eject but it stayed put, eventually after many attempts it ejected.Regards Ry...

Option 8 here: http://www.satnavupgrades.co.uk/id47.html is the last CD based map disc issued for the original Mk. III satnav computer fitted as part of the highline system, I believe that VDO-Dayton announced that because the CD based system was obsolete technology no further updates would be produced.

Thanks for all the advice and information. One last question though, would a later DVD nav unit simply plug in and replace my older CD unit if I wanted to run more recent discs?

Yes, the later Mk.IV satnav computer, as fitted to various BMWs is a direct replacement which runs the later DVD maps, you also have the option of fitting the 16:9 widescreen bordmonitor, 16:9 widescreen video / TV module and the BM24 radio module (all as fitted to BMWs). There are numerous posts about upgrading various components of the highline system on this forum,

Steve
