Default Me Too !

Hi from Mike
I have just sufferd the stuck bonnet problem on my ZT tourer . I have checked through the access pannel under the wing and the inner of the cable going to the passenger side release comes all the way out with a rusty end where the nipple was! The problem I now have is how to get the bonnet open to renew the cable - I gather it is "secret infomation"

Thanks

Mike

The opening procedure has not been a secret forca long time.

Honest John published this article in 2006 !!

Easy job takes about 30 mins

But we are not allowed to discuss the procedure on here due to security reasons.

However if you search the vids on the web it is widely available 😉

The club with the most knowledge can say how - you just have to ask the right people.

Agree though, as it is pretty much common knowledge, we might as well be open about it.

Anyone who is worried about security could easily modify their car to prevent such access - although it would then be more of a pain if the release lever subsequently failed.

I'd be interested in this problem too. As I understood, the 'secret information' is what you have just described, accessing the cable through the hatch in the wing liner, but the cable breaking inside the bonnet lock is a different issue - is there an answer?

A reminder to everyone to remove the bonnet catches to check the ends of the cable there when the opportunity arises. The first car I checked needed both cables replaced, just hoping I don't get a breakage with the one I'm using now.
