This is actually too easy to be fun and my heart isn't really in it to be honest for various reasons, I may go back to giving MGJohn a hard time about BREXIT

here we go again?

To get 260bhp from the M47 engine is a tad far fetched as far as I'm aware, however properly quick diesels are not a mythical beast.

My 1.9 Tid Saab 93 auto convertible has the official Saab/Hirsch 178bhp remap & is seriously quick, maybe not off the line, but I'd put it against any standard 190 over a mile.

There was also another official Saab/Hirsch map to take it to 200bhp ish

The torque is the thing with it, phenomenal.

At the last Nano I took one of the guys that has a V8 ZT out in the Saab & he was gobsmacked at it compared to his.

Lets not forget that back in 2008 Jason Plato was 2nd in the BTCC in a diesel SEAT Leon TDI pulling over 260bhp

So while this Rover/ZT maybe fanciful, quick diesels aren't.

Regards

Paul

I used to be a derv dolly, I don't doubt diesels can be quick. The Audi A5 3.0 TDI comes with 242 bhp as standard. An M50d x5 has 376 bhp as standard. An audi a8 4.2 Tdi has 380 bhp as standard. It does have a v8 engine, it'll do 0-60 in just over four and a half seconds.

The one thing they all have in common is they're not powered by an M47. To get close to the 256 BHP the 75 V8 has as standard you'd need two M47's, a roll of double sided sticky tape and more than one empty kitchen roll holder.

I'm sorry but you post on here complaining people aren't nice to you and don't take you seriously, then you go and post utter garbage like this. Maybe if you stop with the idiotic comments, people will take you more seriously.

I have a ZT diesel, I love it, it's got plenty of power for me, and tows the caravan well, but it certainly wouldn't compare to a V8.

Good thing about that 3.0l v6 audi is, you can easily chip it to 300BHP. It even sounds really nice with a good exhaust fitted. The mind boggles why anybody would buy an S5 petrol version when the 3.0 tdi does it all! Power and economy AND nice noises.

My 2.5 AEL 5 Cylinder tdi in my c4 A6 can be tuned to 300BHP with a variable vane turbo and custom management. A little too close to the limit with that one though.
