Default European Jolly

Well after setting off one week ago in my 190 from Harwich on the ferry with my two lads we are on the way back to Harwich via the Hook of Holland, Lyon, Cannes, Monte Carlo, Pisa, Milan, then Munich via Switzerland and Austria then Dusseldorf and back to the Hook of Holland, the car did not need a drop of oil or water, however it got through about £70 of petrol a day 😢
Not tallied it all up yet but it looks like about £650 with the road tolls and vignettes added In, I wanted to do it and we did! 😁😎

now back home, Door to door we did 2,848 miles in a week.

We were lucky, the Hotel we stayed at was just outside Milan (a bit like Wembley to central London) so it was dual carriageway outside the hotel and fairly quiet, also they have a tube system and the station was literally opposite the hotel so we left the car at the Hotel and got the tube in, it's 1.5 euros each way, also we were told by the Hotel staff that Milan is quieter in August.

Nice one Roy, glad the car behaved itself, but why wouldn't it, it's a 'Rover'

We did just over 2,500 miles from Leeds (West Yorks) via Harwich, Hook of Holland, Berlin, Poznan to Bialystok (Poland) and environs. Worst driving was in Germany (the E30 was hellish; up there with the best of British roadworks and congestion!). But the car (2.5 KV6 auto) more than made up for the frustration with comfortable, 'relaxed' motoring throughout. Like your's my car required no coolant or oil and even with the A/C working frantically to keep the cabin temp down in 35°C heat, I managed 32 miles (51 Km) to the gallon on average, which I don't consider bad at all for a 17 year-old engine. Admittedly, the faster diesel boys and girls would be getting 50+ MPG despite doing 100+ MPH, but I was happy to stick to 80-90 MPH on cruise where I could. That's 139 KPH on the message panel by the way and my better half took the picture!!!
