Default Diesel return cooler bypass

So as above,
Can I temporarily bypass the diesel cooler so I can use the car until I get a replacement to refit, the original on the car is leaking and I'm not going to add any skid patches on the road, if so what do I connect to what?

Yes you can bypass the diesel fuel cooler.

Where you need to bypass it depends on where the leak is, is it the cooler itself leaking? If so you can just remove the inlet and outlet and connect those pipes together to bypass it.

Attached is a diagram for the fuel cooler which may help.

I bet its the little valve in the centre of the cooler that's leaking Roy...

Bit of info here on how everything is plumbed in including the colour codes on the pipes:

I think it is to be honest, the actual "radiator" looks ok, aluminium?

On my old car that part sprung a leak 4 or 5 years ago and i temporarily removed the whole unit and never got around to replacing, it with no obvious consequences.I heard tales of the tank melting due to the fuel return being too hot but really couldnt believe that, the only reason i can think for having it is to regulate the fuel temperature and therefore density for more acccurate regulation.
I did have to replace the small plastic 4 way joiner as it is necessary to control the fuel return flow rate, without it i got a low fuel pressure fault and cut out above 2000 rpm.
