Default Pop! Goes the Bonnet Lock

Just snapped the connection between the bonnet lever inside the coupé and the wire that pulls the lock open. Trying to pull the wire with a pair of pliers – but nothing happens. Any suggestions?

Try getting someone to press down lightly on the bonnet to release some of the pressure at the same time.

How do I repair it afterwards? Do I need to replace the whole shebang?

Replace all the cables, clean and lube the catches and lock pins. Also if you havnt already do the splitter box modification and fill it with grease, you should be able to open the bonnet trouble free for years then.
Lee.

Thanks, all of you. I managed to get it open by accessing the splitter box through the wheel arch. Some say you can reach it through the inspection hatch, but the more of the liner you can remove, the better.
In my case, it helped that the fault was that the cable from the coupé had come loose from the splitter box. That way, I was able to yank the splitter box down separately to get a good grip on it, and then all I had to do was to pull. Worked like a charm.

But as others have said, do at least check the cables from the splitter to the catches. The cables fray inside these catches, and if they break there I don't know how you'd get the bonnet open. Rimmers have these cables, strip and grease the catches at the same time.
