Default Help with Symphony radio ...

Just had a call from Alex30013k, who is stuck in slow moving traffic on some motorway, and fiddling with his new Symphony, he Powered on the radio whilst pressing the fast forward button and it is now asking him for a code .... bottom line being he can't listen to his radio ...

Anyone out there know of a way of getting out of this mode?? (he's not sure he has the code, but needs to check when he gets home).

Anyone have any pointers for him re: above so he can listen to his radio whilst stuck in traffic??

He may have accidently put the unit into a feature which allows you to set the code on or off.

To turn this feature on or off you need to first enter the code. Has he tried turning the unit off and then on again to try and exit this particular feature?

Oh dear.

Alex must have accidently turned the 'code' feature on. This is not good if he doesn't have the code. Until he can get home and have a look for a code number he will be unable to use the radio.

If he doesn't have the code written down anywhere he may try looking on the unit itelf. Occasionally the installers will scribble the radio code onto the backs of the units somewhere so they can test the unit during installation. However, this is more luck than anything if it is on there or not.

If all of the above fails to turn up a code then it will be a trip to the garage he bought the car from. My (ex MGR) garage was able to pull up a file on the car detailing various things about it and they were able to provide me with the code for my radio. If the dealer cannot find a code then he will need to find a proffesional audio specialist to "interogate" the unit using (what I guess) is a special computer program to get the code from the unit. Average rates for this service is about a tenner.

Hope this helps!

All the experts are off line at the moment. Must be a football match or some such on telly. He'll have to wait. Tell him to stop fiddling and watch the road.

After a quick look, I've found this one
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Rover-Radio-Co...QQcmdZViewItem

But unfortunately they require the unit to be sent to them for decoding, which appears to cost more than the advertised £5.

Maybe a more indepth search will yeild a better solution....
