Default Free modified handbrake compensators

Well not quite free -£5, but just covering my basic material and postage costs in offering the service.

You pay me £5 via paypal as a gift and send me your address and I send you a compensator which has been refurbished back to original length and welded up so it will no longer suffer from the well known issue of these compensators increasing in length in normal service.

Once delivered I then expect you to install it promptly and return your stretched compensator back to me - to keep the service going. There is a mass of documentation about the problem on the forum and plenty of details with regards to its fitting.

Symptoms of the problem are that the handbrake lever when applied comes up more than three or four clicks and there is no adjustment left on the cable end nut under the lever. There is absolutely no point in just buying and fitting a new compensator without it first being modified, as it will just stretch again. Every single used compensator returned to me has suffered some stretch usually between 6 and 10mm longer than when new.

It is a good alternative, but you will need to use the Mini R50 front common cable as well.

I tried many times with my Mk1 to get the h/brake right, using the guide too, never did. Used Harry's guide on the Mk2 and it's great. I used the 'mini' compensator because it allows the twin cables to equalise better. A key factor in setting the drums up is to regularly bash them between adjustments, they may seem hard to turn but once hit with the mallet they free up and can be adjusted further.
